Program Description : This 6-week writing workshop will focus on different genres including fiction, non-fiction, memoir, short story, creative writing, flash fiction and fan fiction. Through group discussions and constructive critique, this workshop will help participants write the most powerful, entertaining and effective pieces their imaginations can come up with, in a variety of styles and genres. We'll cover craft elements such as setting, character, voice, description, and editing. We'll discuss how to formulate ideas, how to engage the reader, knowing how to begin and end your work. In this supportive environment, participants can work on existing or new writings. The workshop is taught by New York Times bestselling author and award-winning journalist Robbie Woliver who also teaches writing and journalism at Farmingdale State College. There is a $25 fee, payable at registration beginning April 2 for South Huntington cardholders. Enrollment is limited.
