The YA Library will provide extra tables and chairs for group study in support of our local school students preparing for midterm examinations. During these hours, gaming will be suspended, cell phones should be muted and only quiet conversation will be permitted.


Cookies and Milk with our COPE Officer

7:00-8:00pm

Get community service while sharing cookies and milk with our local COPE Police Officer and learn about the job they do for our community. We will also be putting together bags for residents in local homeless shelters. If you wish to receive an extra hour of community service, please bring 3 small toiletries to be included in the bag. Free Driver's Permit Practice Tests

[DriverPracTab.jpg] If you will be seeking a state driver's permit, practice for the written test with a free, online resource offered through the South Huntington Public Library. Budding drivers can take any of 11 practice tests for a driver's permit. Those seeking motorcycle or commercial licenses can take practice tests as well. Drivers of all types of vehicles can access the handbooks published by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles as well as a helpful FAQ section with information about New York State's permitting and licensing requirements. Check out theYoung Adult Library

On Friday, December 7, 2012 at 7pm, the doors opened for the new expanded and renovated Young Adult Library. This new high-tech space is a place for meeting your friends, relaxing with a book, playing games and doing school work. Our collection holds over 4,000 books, including fiction, graphic novels, nonfiction, reference and a variety of magazines.

The library will be staffed 3pm to 9pm Monday through Friday, 11am to 5pm on Saturday and 1pm to 5pm on Sunday and will offer a variety of services to SHPL patrons in grades 6 through 12. Before 3pm during the week, the room will be available for general use and will host programs for the community.
