About the Teen Advisory Board
The South Huntington Public Library Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is an active organization that works
on behalf of the library’s Young Adult community. The Advisory Board plans and hosts a variety of
local events, including the yearly Summer Reading Program, monthly “Kids and Teens” activities,
and an annual Writing Contest. In April, the Board sponsored the first ever Rock-Fest here at the
library which was a great success. The TAB also contributes ideas concerning book or CD selections,
future programs, and guest speakers.
Membership in the Teen Advisory Board is open to all teens in grades 6–12 and qualifies as community service.
Meetings are held in the community room on the third Tuesday of every month from 7 to 8 PM. The Board is lead
by a small group of committee leaders under the supervision of YA librarian and advisor Janet Scherer.
New members are always welcome!
