Program Description : Torn paper paintings by Dr. Steven Palumbo will be on display. Steve has been drawing and painting his entire life, and he chose the specialty of plastic surgery for its intimate relationship with art, sculpture and perspective. Since retiring from active practice, he has worked primarily in the Japanese art of chigiri-e, in which torn pieces of hand-made paper are used to create images on board or canvas. He has added newsprint and newspaper photo to these larger collages to bring elements of immediacy, timeliness and social commentary to the work. Steve is a member-artist of the East End Arts Community in Riverhead, and of the Art League of Long Island in Dix Hills. His studio is in Quogue.
