    Details : Beat the winter blues and be a part of our world. Swim down to the library for some fishy fun. We will have mer-tastic crafts and games dedicated to some of our favorite friends found under the sea. Mermaid and beach attire is encouraged but not required. Register February 3.
  10. Yoga with Props

    Details : Instructor Cathy Daniels will lead you through yoga postures with the use of props, which provide support for the body and enhance yoga postures to provide you a deeper experience. Please bring a yoga mat, two blocks and a yoga strap to class. There is a $15 fee, payable at registration, beginning Jan. 6 for South Huntington cardholders; all others Jan. 13.
  11. Family History, Heirlooms and Treasures

    Details : Researching your family tree? Share your knowledge and experience with others in this unique genealogy "show and tell" program co-sponsored with the Huntington Historical Society. Bring a document, photo or family heirloom and share your story with other ancestry sleuths. All welcome.
  12. Instrument Petting Zoo

    Details : Exposure to orchestral instruments is a fun, interactive way to build a lifelong interest in music. Created by The Staller Center for the Arts at Stony Brook University, the Instrument Petting Zoo gives young children the chance to listen to and play real instruments from the orchestra. Registration begins January 20.
  13. Arm Knitting
    Time : 11:00 AM

    Details : Make this luxe on-trend scarf in just over an hour as you learn to arm knit with instructor Joanne Cohen. Please bring to class 4 skeins of bulky weight yarn -- and your arms, of course! Look for the yarn symbol and choose yarn in the 5 or 6 category. There is a $5 fee, payable at registration beginning Jan. 13 for South Huntington cardholders, others Jan. 20. Enrollment is limited.
  14. Volunteering at the Library

    Details : Looking to volunteer at the library and earn community service? Sign up for this workshop/ training session to learn about volunteering for various programs at the library and then have an opportunity to sign up for them at our monthly Teen Advisory Board meetings! Space is limited. For those SHPL cardholders in 7th-12th grade who attend monthly Teen Advisory Board meetings. Registration begins January 20.
  15. Crafts Galore: Make a Valentine

  16. Art Exhibit: Photographs & Memories
    Time : 2:00 PM
    Location : Gallery
    Details : An opening reception will be held for an exhibition of photographs by Bruce Cohen and Pamela Waldroup. This collection of monochrome photos focuses on a past time and memory. The places or objects in the images may trigger something in your own past. Without color, the viewer may be able to focus more on the subject matter and its emotional impact. Black and white photographs also help put the emphasis on light, shade and outlines, perhaps allowing the viewer a more intimate and familiar experience. The exhibit will run to Feb. 28. All welcome.
  17. Children's Theater: Pinocchio

    Details : Plaza Theatrical will present this children's classic, in which a living puppet, with the help of a cricket as his conscience, must prove himself worthy to become a real boy.
