Many people react to Bard's paintings by saying, "I know that place." She wants to strike that chord with viewers but she also wants them to feel the emotion and sensitivity that resonates from her art. Kolligs's paintings are primarily from her visits to Shu Swamp on the North Shore, which she calls "a rare pocket of nature. It cycles thickly verdant in the summer and roughly tangled in the winter."
