  1. Bus Trip: 9/11 Museum & Freedom Tower

    Details : We will take a guided tour of the National September 11 & Memorial Museum, a tribute to the victims and survivors of the World Trade center attacks and their loved ones. The museum features 110,000 square feet of exhibit space 70 feet below ground. Afterwards, there will be time on your own to enjoy lunch at Hudson Eats at Brookfield Place, an upscale dining terrace overlooking the Hudson River with 14 chef-driven eateries. Then we will meet for a visit to the Freedom Tower, the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, where we will take in spectacular views of New York City and beyond. Please be aware that this trip will involve a lot of walking, so wear comfortable shoes.

    Tickets are $124 and include luxury motor coach transportation, admission to both venues, tour, escort and gratuity. South Huntington cardholders may sign up beginning June 10; others June 17. No refunds unless we can fill your seat from the waiting list.</p>

    Details : Certified instructor Rosanne Pawluk will teach you Part 2 of the classic Yang 24 Form practiced in the US and China. The gentle flowing movements of tai chi aim to increase balance, flexibility and relaxation, and improve overall mind, body and spirit. There is a $42 fee payable at registration beginning Aug. 7 for South Huntington cardholders; others Aug. 14.

  6. Movie: The Zookeeper's Wife

  7. Advanced Memoir Writing

    Details : This 6-week workshop is for writers with previous memoir workshop experience who are currently working on existing book projects. Through group discussions and constructive critique, we will cover all aspects of completing a memoir--what to include or exclude, setting and other story-depth builders, detail, chronology, "voice," etc. We will go over sections or scenes the writer is unsure about, and help build out the story to completion. Individualized tasks will be provided. The workshop is taught by New York Times bestselling author and award-winning journalist Robbie Woliver who also teaches writing and journalism at Farmingdale State College. There is a $20 fee payable at registration beginning Sept. 1 for South Huntington cardholders.
