  2. Register for Harry Potter Birthday Bash on 7/27

    Details : Calling all witches, wizards, muggles and all those in between!! Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone being published with a magically awesome party. We will have trivia contests, wizardly good treats and a craft or two dedicated to the boy who lived. Wizard attire and costumes are strongly encouraged but not required. Register July 13

    Details : Do you want a homemade treat this summer but don't want to heat up the house with the oven? You will prepare several scrumptious no bake snacks to sample and take the recipes with you to make them at home. Please inform the library of any food allergies when registering. Registration begins July 13.

    Details : Join us in this energetic workshop filled with creative movement, improvisation, storytelling, songs and Theater Games. Meets on Wednesdays, July 26, August 2, 9 and 16. Registration begins July 13.
  5. Tai Chi for Energy

    Details : Instructor Rosanne Pawluk will teach this form, which combines movements from Chen and Sun styles to produce a powerful synergy. There is a $37 fee for this 7-session class payable at registration beginning June 8 for South Huntington cardholders; others June 13.

    Details : Listening to stories is one of the first steps in eventually learning to read. This story time allows children and their caregivers to gradually separate at their own pace. Register July 6.
  7. Mother Goose Rhymetime Drop-in

    Details : Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes and fingerplays for children ages birth to 35 months with parent/caregiver. Siblings are welcome. Drop-in.

    Details : Have you always wanted to learn how to play chess or just want someone to play chess with? The Long Island Chess Nuts will provide 1/2 hour of chess instruction followed by 1/2 hour of playing time. Register July 6.
  10. Zumba Kids

    Details : Zumba Kids classes are rockin', high-energy fitness parties packed with specially choreographed kid-friendly routines. Participants should wear sneakers, comfortable fitness clothing and bring a bottle of water. Registration begins July 6.
  11. Advanced Creative Writing
    Time : 6:30 PM
    Location : Program Room
    Details : This 6-week workshop is for authors with previous writing workshop experience who are currently working on existing novels or short story projects. Through group discussions and constructive critique, we will cover development and consistency of character, setting, plot, and most importantly, how to build out the written work. How does the writer get from point A to point B, from beginning to end, from conflict to resolution? Self-editing will be a main theme throughout. This course will not cover memoir. The workshop is taught by New York Times bestselling author and award-winning journalist Robbie Woliver who also teaches writing and journalism at Farmingdale State College. There is a $20 fee payable at registration beginning July 1 for South Huntington cardholders.
  12. Children's Movie: Beauty and the Beast

    Details : The fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful, and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle's enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast's hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within. (PG, 123 mins.)
  13. Braided Duct Tape Bracelets

    Details : Are you a fan of bracelets? Come and create a braided duct tape bracelet. You can choose the duct tape you like the most and become a trend setter!! Registration begins July 3.
