  1. A.A.R.P. Tax Help

    Details : Volunteer tax preparers from A.A.R.P. provide free tax preparation for taxpayers with low and moderate income with special attention to those ages 60 and over. They will be preparing tax returns on Tuesdays, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through April 11. The program is free but due to high demand, registration is required. Register in person or by calling the library at 631-549-4411. (If filing joint, both people must be present). Please bring last year's tax return and other pertinent tax documents, photo ID and Social Security card to your appointment.
  2. Intermediate Tai Chi
    Time : 10:00 AM
    Location : Meeting Room
    Details : Certified instructor Rosanne Pawluk will lead you in the classic Yang 24 Form as she helps you deepen and refine your practice. The class will also feature a short meditation. There is a $55 fee for this 7-session class payable at registration beginning Feb. 7 for South Huntington cardholders; others Feb. 14.

    Details : Look, listen, and have fun with songs, stories, and movement activities. When storytime is over there will be 20 minutes of playtime with age-appropriate toys. Siblings welcome. Registration begins March 1.

  5. Tai Chi Sword Form

    Details : The 16 Sword Form is based on Yang Style Tai Chi. This class, taught by instructor Rosanne Pawluk, is for the intermediate student already familiar with the Yang 24 Form. The movements are slow, gentle, and beautiful. For those interested in learning a weapons form for the first time, the 16 Sword form style is a great place to start. The use of a (plastic) sword is encouraged but not required. There is a $58 fee payable at registration beginning Feb. 7 for South Huntington cardholders; others Feb. 14.
  6. Homework Help at the South Huntington Public Library
    Time : 4:30 PM
    Location : Young Adult Room
    Details : High School students will assist children in the community with their homework assignments in the YA Library. Parents/Caregivers must remain in the building during the program. Help is offered on a first come, first serve basis.
  7. Zumba Kids
    Time : 4:30 PM
    Location : Program Room
    Details : Zumba Kids classes are rockin', high-energy fitness parties packed with specially choreographed kid-friendly routines. Participants should wear sneakers, comfortable fitness clothing and bring a bottle of water. Registration begins February 14.
  8. Evening Yoga

    Details : End your day on a positive note with a yoga routine led by instructor Augusta Berner. There is a $25 fee payable at registration beginning Feb. 7 for South Huntington cardholders; others Feb. 14.
  9. Beginner Crochet
    Time : 7:00 PM
    Location : Program Room
    Details : Instructor Joanne Cohen will teach you basic stitches, which you will then use to create a one skein cowl in this two-session class. Please bring to class a size H crochet hook and one skein (200 yards) of worsted weight yarn "4" in a medium color. There is a $5 fee. South Huntington cardholders can register beginning March 7.
