  1. Register for Make A Mandala on 7/25 CANCELLED CANCELLED

    Details : The word "mandala" comes from the Sanskrit, meaning "circle." Featuring balanced elements, mandalas can be used in meditation and on our spiritual journeys. Instructor Lauren Singer will show us how to create a beautiful mandala using colored pencils and collage. There is a $10 fee payable at registration beginning July 5 for South Huntington cardholders; others July 12. Enrollment is limited.
  2. Register for Baking Coach: Ice Cream Cone Cookies on 7/19

    Details : Some Pre-K Grownup and Me fun. Decorate three ice cream cone-shaped cookies with colored glaze and sprinkles, and take home in a bakery box. Register July 5.
  3. Register for Bedtime Book Buddies on 7/12

    Details : Book Buddies involves older kids helping to teach younger kids the fun and joy of reading. Teen volunteers from our community will read to or with their younger partners followed by an activity with the teen helping the child, and concluding with the buddies sharing a snack. Register July 5.
  4. Register for Printmaking Workshop on 7/12

    Details : Learn the basics of printmaking with artist Michael Krasowitz. Create your own printmaking plate and make colorful prints. Register July 5.
  5. Register for Shake, Shimmy, and Dance! on 7/12

    Details : Music, movement, balance and coordination skills are introduced in a fun, friendly, action-packed class. Our teacher, Miss Cris, will keep the music and curriculum moving along while parents take an active role in encouraging their toddlers to shake, shimmy, and dance! Registration begins July 5.

    Details : Meet other Shopkins fans to trade toys and cards and play some Shopkins games. Snacks will be served, too. Register July 5.
  7. Register for Stories and Things on 7/11

    Location : Program Room
    Details : Children (ages 2 to 3) and their accompanying grown-up participate in a program of music and movement, stories and a simple craft led by one of our children's librarians. Siblings are welcome. Registration begins July 5.
  8. Register for Teen Creative Writing Retreat on 7/18

    Details : The library and the Long Island Writing Project at Nassau Community College are teaming up to offer a unique opportunity for South Huntington teens this summer. The two-week Creative Writing Retreat is designed specifically to meet the needs of students entering grades 7-12 who have the desire to write creatively in any genre. Teens will develop their craft, gain valuable feedback and publish their work in a group anthology. This course is open to all teens, regardless of writing experience. The class will meet from 3-5:30 p.m. July 18-22 & 25-29. The program is free but registration is required. Register July 5. Enrollment is limited.
  9. Register for Teen STEAM Challenge on 7/15

    Details : Exercise your STEAM problem solving skills in this friendly team competition. A fun challenge will be unveiled on the night of the program to be sure you use your noodle, not your Google! Register July 5.
  10. Intermediate Tai Chi
    Time : 10:00 AM
    Location : Meeting Room
    Details : Certified instructor Rosanne Pawluk will lead you in the classic Yang 24 Form as she helps you deepen and refine your practice. The class will also feature a short meditation. There is a $41 fee for this 7-session class, payable at registration beginning June 7 for South Huntington cardholders; all others June 14. (No class July 26 and Aug. 2.)
  11. Teen Rockfest Information Day

    Details : Stop by the YA Library to find out about having your teen band perform for our Teen Rockfest on Friday, August 5 at 7 p.m., live on the library outdoor stage (weather permitting). Come and tell us about your band and find out what you need to do to get into the line-up! Returning participants that would like to perform must contact us by this date.   12. Zumba Kids

    Details : Zumba Kids classes are rockin', high-energy fitness parties packed with specially choreographed kid-friendly routines. Participants should wear sneakers, comfortable fitness clothing and bring a bottle of water. Registration begins June 21.
  13. Evening Yoga

    Location : Meeting Room
    Details : This yoga routine, led by instructor Augusta Berner, will help you end your day on a positive note. There is a $32 fee payable at registration beginning June 7 for South Huntington cardholders; others June 14.
  14. Evening Yoga Session II
    Time : 7:15 PM
    Location : Meeting Room
    Details : End your day on a relaxing note with this yoga routine led by instructor Augusta Berner. There is a $32 fee for this 9-session class, payable at registration beginning June 7 for South Huntington cardholders; all others June 14.
