  2. Register for YA Baking Coach: Ice Cream Sandwiches on 8/11

    Details : First, we will make homemade waffles and place ice cream in-between to make this treat. While you are enjoying your ice cream sandwich, we will give a presentation on how to make ice cream.
  3. Tai Chi for Health
    Time : 9:30 AM

    Details : Instructor Rosanne Pawluk will teach you this simple form, based on Sun style Tai Chi, which features agile steps and exercises that may improve mobility, breathing and relaxation. There is a $32 fee for this 8-session class, payable at registration, which begins June 9 for South Huntington cardholders; all others June 16.

    Details : Listening to stories is one of the first steps in eventually learning to read. This story time allows children and their caregivers to gradually separate at their own pace. Register June 16.
  5. Mother Goose Rhymetime Drop-in

    Details : Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes and fingerplays for children ages birth to 35 months with parent/caregiver. Siblings welcome. Drop-in.
  6. Thursday Yoga

    Location : Meeting Room
    Details : Instructor Augusta Berner will lead a yoga routine that will strengthen and tone your body and calm your mind. There is a $32 fee payable at registration beginning June 9 for South Huntington cardholders; others June 16.
  7. Teen Creative Writing Retreat
    Time : 3:30 PM
    Location : Young Adult Room
    Details : The library and the Long Island Writing Project at Nassau Community College are teaming up to offer a unique opportunity for South Huntington teens this summer. The two-week Creative Writing Retreat is designed specifically to meet the needs of students entering grades 7-12 who have the desire to write creatively in any genre. Teens will develop their craft, gain valuable feedback and publish their work in a group anthology. This course is open to all teens, regardless of writing experience. The class will meet from 3-5:30 p.m. July 18-22 & 25-29. The program is free but registration is required. Register July 5. Enrollment is limited.
  8. Hiking on Long Island
    Time : 7:00 PM
    Location : Meeting Room
    Details : Lee McAllister, author of Hiking Long Island, will discuss the mental and physical health benefits of hiking and tell us about the best parks and trails where we can get out there and have fun. He will also talk about the geography, flora and fauna of the area. All welcome.
  9. Potter Party
    Time : 7:00 PM
    Location : Program Room
    Details : Join us for a birthday celebration honoring the boy who lived. We will have magical crafts and wonderful wizard treats. Costumes and Harry Potter attire is encouraged but not required. Register July 14.
  10. YA Tie Dye anything
    Time : 7:00 PM
    Location : Young Adult Room
    Details : Bring any article of clothing your would like to create a fun new tie dye design. White/ lighter color clothing works best. Registration begins on July 14. SHPL grades 6-12 only. Please be aware this program may be messy, please dress accordingly.
