    Details : Join us for a birthday celebration honoring the boy who lived. We will have magical crafts and wonderful wizard treats. Costumes and Harry Potter attire is encouraged but not required. Register July 14.
  2. Register for YA Tie Dye anything on 7/28

    Details : Bring any article of clothing your would like to create a fun new tie dye design. White/ lighter color clothing works best. Registration begins on July 14. SHPL grades 6-12 only. Please be aware this program may be messy, please dress accordingly.
  3. Tai Chi for Health

    Details : Instructor Rosanne Pawluk will teach you this simple form, based on Sun style Tai Chi, which features agile steps and exercises that may improve mobility, breathing and relaxation. There is a $32 fee for this 8-session class, payable at registration, which begins June 9 for South Huntington cardholders; all others June 16.

    Details : Listening to stories is one of the first steps in eventually learning to read. This story time allows children and their caregivers to gradually separate at their own pace. Register June 16.

    Details : Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes and fingerplays for children ages birth to 35 months with parent/caregiver. Siblings welcome. Drop-in.

    Details : Instructor Augusta Berner will lead a yoga routine that will strengthen and tone your body and calm your mind. There is a $32 fee payable at registration beginning June 9 for South Huntington cardholders; others June 16.
  8. Animal Olympics
    Time : 3:00 PM
    Location : Program Room
    Details : Are you faster than a mite, or stronger than an ant? Can you jump higher than a flea or further than a kangaroo? Come find out just how well you fair against the animal kingdom. In an Olympic year, Sweetbriar Nature Center will count down some of the fitness stars of the animal kingdom through extreme countdowns. We will also bring some of our resident Olympiads, an owl whose hearing is incredible, a tarantula whose web is stronger than steel, a turtle who can sometimes live over one hundred years, and a surprise mammal whose fur is so thick fleas and ticks cannot get to its skin. Register July 7.
  9. Rocky Revisited: 40 Years of Stallone's Sports Saga

    Details : Film expert Clive Young doesn't pull any punches as he explores the history of Sylvester Stallone's signature character, the million-to-one shot boxer, Rocky Balboa, and his many movies. The first film, released in 1976, almost didn't get made. Shot on a shoestring budget, Rocky starred Stallone, an unknown actor who wrote the script himself in a spiral notebook and went on to win the Best Picture Oscar. Join us for this fast-paced, multi-media look at the Rocky phenomenon, in front the of the camera and behind the scenes. (See the original Rocky movie on Friday, Aug. 12 at 7 p.m.)
