    Details : Certified instructor Gwen DeVercelly will lead you in the classic Yang 24 Form practiced in the US and China. The gentle flowing movements of tai chi aim to increase balance, flexibility and relaxation, and improve overall mind, body and spirit. There is a $32 fee for this 8-session class, payable at registration beginning April 4 for South Huntington cardholders; all others April 11.

  4. Study Hours in the YA Library

    Details : The YA Library will provide extra tables and chairs for group study in support of our local school students. During these hours, gaming will be suspended.
  5. Battle of the Books Practice Meeting

    Details : Hail, warriors. If you are entering grades 6, 7, 8 or 9 in September and love to read, I have need of your skills to read and memorize trivia from eight preselected books. Our band of warriors will train to compete against the other Suffolk libraries for the title of County Champion! Meetings will be on Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30 pm in the YA library. The actual battle takes place on Saturday, August 13th. For those about to read, WE SALUTE YOU!

  7. Cooking Class: Super Salads for Nutrition & Health

    Details : Chef Kathryn Bari-Petritis will show us how to make delicious salads that will spark our energy and enrich our health. She will demonstrate how to pair ancient grains, like farro and quinoa, with fresh greens and add-ins like nuts and legumes, to compose a complete meal in a bowl. Chef Kathryn is a holistic chef, educator and author of Health Transforming Foods. There is a $10 fee, which includes tasting samples, payable at registration beginning June 2 for South Huntington cardholders; all others June 9. Enrollment is limited.
