    Details : Celebrate Chinese New Year (Jan. 28) with Chef Rob Scott. He will show you how to make Asian Orzo Vegetable Salad, Oriental Slaw with Roasted Peanuts and Barbecued Chicken in Lettuce Cups. Tasting samples and recipes will be available. There is a $10 fee, payable at registration beginning Dec. 13 for South Huntington cardholders; others Dec. 20. Enrollment is limited.

    Details : Project Excel will be offering two day babysitting preparation course for middle and high school students on December 27 and 28, 7pm to 8pm. Students work hands-on with animated dolls to learn the basics of infant care including feeding, burping, diaper changing, safety and play. Students learn how to engage toddlers and younger children in play as well as scheduling, discipline and safety. Students leave with a toolkit of games and strategies to become top rate caregivers. Register December 13.

    Details : If you've read the book Snowmen at Night, you know that snowmen enjoy all kinds of fun. Imagine a snowman on the beach and create this mixed media painting which combines sand, glue, paint, shells and crystals. Fun is in store for all! Register December 13.

  7. Intermediate Tai Chi

    Details : Certified instructor Rosanne Pawluk will lead you in the classic Yang 24 Form as she helps you deepen and refine your practice. The class will also feature a short meditation. There is a $47 fee for this 8-session class, payable at registration beginning Oct. 4 for South Huntington cardholders; all others Oct. 11. (No class Nov. 8.)

    Details : High School students will assist children in the community with their homework assignments in the YA Library. Parents/Caregivers must remain in the building during the program. Help is offered on a first come, first serve basis.

Learn how easy and affordable it is to make your own pet food and treats from Christine M. Filardi, certified in canine and feline nutrition and author of Home Cooking for Your Dog. The health benefits are numerous when dogs and cats eat a species appropriate diet. Most importantly, pet owners see the elimination of prescription dog food and many common health issues our pets face: allergies, joint problems, obesity, digestive upset, and behavior issues. She will also provide a recipe for homemade treats -- a perfect holiday gift for your pet. All welcome.
