  2. Tai Chi for Beginners

    Details : Certified instructor Rosanne Pawluk will lead you in the classic Yang 24 Form practiced in the US and China. The gentle flowing movements of tai chi aim to increase balance, flexibility and relaxation, and improve overall mind, body and spirit. There is a $32 fee, payable at registration beginning Aug. 1 for South Huntington cardholders; all others Aug. 8.

    Details : Children (ages 2 to 3) and their accompanying grown-up participate in a program of music and movement, stories and a simple craft led by one of our children's librarians. Siblings are welcome. Registration begins October 3.

  6. Boo...Yoga in the Dark!

    Details : Join us for some spooky Halloween yoga fun. Learn some new poses while playing games and activities in the dark, maybe dim. Register October 10.
  7. Homework Help at the South Huntington Public Library
    Time : 6:30 PM
    Location : Young Adult Room
    Details : High School students will assist children in the community with their homework assignments in the YA Library. Parents/Caregivers must remain in the building during the program. Help is offered on a first come, first serve basis.
  8. Creative Writing
    Time : 7:00 PM
    Location : Meeting Room
    Details : This 6-week workshop focuses on creatively writing about anything you want. Through group discussions and constructive critique, this workshop will help participants write the most powerful and effective stories their imaginations can come up with. We'll cover craft elements such as setting, character, voice, descriptiveness, and editing. In this supportive environment, participants can work on existing or new writings, a full novel, flash fiction, short essays or even a blog. The workshop is taught by New York Times bestselling author and award-winning journalist Robbie Woliver who also teaches writing and journalism at Farmingdale State College. There is a $20 fee. Registration begins Sept. 2 for South Huntington cardholders; others Sept. 9.
  9. Defensive Driving

    Details : Learn to be a better driver with this two-session Empire Safety Council course, and you can also save money on your auto insurance. There is a $28 fee payable at registration beginning Oct. 1 for South Huntington cardholders; others Oct. 8.
