My Grown Up & Me

Details : My Grown Up & Me is an integrated developmental playgroup that provides an opportunity for each grown-up and child team to have a meaningful experience through music and play. It is sponsored by the library and Alternatives for Children of Melville, Evaluator and Provider of Early Intervention and facilitated by music therapist, Beth Schwartz. Enrollment is limited to just 10 children, ages 18-30 months and an accompanying adult. No siblings please. To enroll, you must call Alternatives for Children at 271-0777 beginning July 6 at 9 a.m. A South Huntington library card is required. No repeaters from other sessions.

Sergei Rachmaninoff: 20th Century Romantic Soul of Russia

Details : Sergei Rachmaninoff (1873-1943) was one of the legendary pianists of all time. The poetry, power, virtuosity and grandeur of his playing awed and inspired both audiences and his colleagues. As a composer, his music harkens back to the Romantic Era of the 19th Century and to the soulfulness of his Russian roots and contemporaries, including influences of Tchaikovsky. Join pianist and educator Dr. Judith Alstadter for a multi-media look at the man and his music, featuring excerpts from some of his works and performances. Free. Join us!

Getting Ready to Babysit

Details : This course from the Cornell Cooperative Extension teaches the responsibilities inherent in babysitting and the skills necessary for the important job of child care. Participants will make a boo-boo bunny and receive a booklet and certificate upon completion. Refreshments will be provided. There is a nonrefundable fee of $10 is due at registration which begins July 1.
