It searches the library catalog as well as electronic databases and offers an array of results that can be limited by material type, collection, publication date and more. Encore also provides image results and cloud tags that provide links to related subjects.

Learn a New Language Online with Mango!
Mango's unique teaching method quickly engages you in real conversations between two native speakers. Each new lesson builds on previously learned material, and you may also revisit a previous lesson at any time. Includes lessons in Spanish, Italian, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Greek and Portuguese. A valid South Huntington library card is required for remote access to Mango.

Playaways: Audiobooks on the Go
Keep sand out of library books this summer; listen to an audiobook on Playaway instead! It's highly portable and allows you to enjoy a great book while exercising, traveling, gardening, watching the kids in the pool or sunbathing at the beach.
Each palm-sized Playaway is pre-loaded with an audiobook title, so there's no waiting to download or multiple CDs to keep track of. Simply plug in a set of earphones and enjoy.
Fiction and non-fiction titles are available for adults, young adults and children. To browse the collection online, search the catalog for keyword “Playaway.”

Online Testing Site Can Sharpen Skills
In the current economic climate, competition is fierce for job openings as well as college admissions slots. The library has a new tool that can help you sharpen your skills and perhaps give you an edge in a tough market: LearningExpress Library is an interactive online service where you can study and practice for various licensing, certification and admittance exams. It also features tutorials to improve academic skills from elementary through high school.
If your goal this year is a new job or career change, LearningExpress Library may be able to help. You can take practice exams for various Civil Service positions, including police officer and postal worker; there are also licensing and certification tests in nursing, real estate, firefighter, EMS and more. Military entrance exams are also available, as are tests for citizenship and the GED.
The service also features practice tests for the SAT, ACT, GMAT, LSAT and more. There are also advanced placement practice exams for high school students and practice diagnostic tests for all students.
LearningExpress Library also features learning series that are not geared to a specific test. They include Business Writing Skills, Job Search and Success Skills, and Resume and Interviewing Skills. You can also take Computer Skills courses, where you can learn Microsoft Access, PowerPoint and more.
