You can benefit the library by supporting the Friends of the South Huntington Public Library, a volunteer group that promotes and enhances library programs and services.

To become a member of the Friends, annual dues are $5 for an individual, $8 for a family, $3 for a senior citizen and $50 for a corporate membership. Click on the Friends of the Library link at left for a membership application.

The Friends are sponsoring several fund-raising activities. They are selling natural canvas tote bags printed with the Friends' logo. They are $8 each and can be purchased at the Circulation Desk. These bags, which are machine-washable, make great gifts for teachers and bus drivers, so buy more than one!

The Friends also are selling The Flying Latini Brothers' latest CD, Get Down, featuring Joseph Latini, library assistant director, and his brothers, John, Jim and Mike. This talented quartet wrote and produced the 15 original songs on the CD. Their music draws from a variety of musical genres including rock, country-western, calypso, and rhythm and blues; the lyrics span almost as many subjects as the card catalog. The CD is just $10, and proceeds will benefit the Friends. The CDs are available at the Circulation Desk.

There also is an ongoing Book and AV Sale sponsored by the Friends of the Library. The shelves of books, CDs and videos for sale are located in the AV section next to the DVDs. Hardcover books and AV materials are $2 each; soft cover books are $1 each. Check this area each time you visit the library, as new inventory is added regularly
